Make your own...laundry detergent?

As budgets tighten up, a trend called "make your own," or MYO, is picking up steam.

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

The ideas are really great, but seem to be fairly time consuming. I am on a time budget -- it's what I sell. Before any wits get a dig, I repair computers, okay? I don't make a ton of money and am always looking for ways to save a dollar. People like me, who are out there scraping for business these days need to make stuff, too, but it has to be simple to do. Maybe "Living with Less on a Time Budget." I don't know.

Thanks for the seed, I will put my active little mind to researching this idea.

Gomer here. I couldn't clip to Living w/ Less as I haven't been accepted yet, I have it on my watchlist and forgot I'm not a member. Oops. Recruit!

I make my own. Washing powder, borax, a bar of soap and water. Makes a couple gallons of detergent and works just as well as the stuff you buy and costs a whole heck of a lot less! Makes enough so that I only have to make a batch every six months.

I never throw away crumbs left over from bar soap. They can be put into am empty dish soap bottle and set by the sink or the waterhose for a good little hand soap.

Right! I stick 'em in the end of a nylon stocking and tie it to my potting bench.
