Florida surfer gets scare from Great White in California

advertisement

Surfing with sharks isn't new to Eric Geiselman, who hails from the shark bite capital of the world, but nothing here could have prepared him for the great white that charged him -- splitting his board in two -- while surfing in California.

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

Geiselman, 21, of New Smyrna Beach, who is in Santa Cruz for the Cold Water Classic, said the shark broke his board "clean in half where I was sitting," in a video posted on a surfing Web site. He was rattled, but otherwise uninjured.

Back when I was about 17 I lived in Escondido Ca. and I used go to Solana Beach and spend the entire day and part of the evening surfing and kcking back on the beach.untill something large as my old school 6 foot board did a kind of sideswipe along my leg with the length of its body. That was 1987,never again.
