Laycee Lowe pulled the trigger through the doggy door hoping it would scare off the man.
The teen was home alone Monday morning near Maryland and 71st avenues when she opened fire on the burglar, she told ABC15.
Lowe said she wasn't sure if she hit the man, but knows that she scared him.
"I know I don't have the best shot ever, so I just got up close," she said.

A very good reason why when you have firearms in your house that you make doubly sure that your family is aware of them as well as how to use them. Maddad, too much of this is going on in this country and too many people would take this right away from us if they could. Nice catch! 17 years old, holy cow!!

Not too hard to figure out how she knew. The odor must have been very penetrating.

I remember a comment by one of the former heads of the NRA, when the Ethiopian famine supplies were being commandeered by local warlords. He said something to the effect of, 'Arm the mothers, and the grain will get delivered to the intended recipients.' Too true. Mommas are grizzlies when there's a cub in the cave.
On a separate note, typical shoddy reporting by the media. To the best of anyone's knowledge, the intruder was shot at, not shot. Never take a news story at face value, the value is always more around the nether regions.
