Is it just me or our kids no longer taught about our Founding Fathers, George Washington or Thomas Jefferson? We were sitting around talking about school tonight, as I tried to slip an History Channel documentary about Benjamin Franklin, I asked them what they knew about the founding of our nation and the men that are accredited with founding it? Nothing, from a 1st grader to a 5th, nothing?
My oldest said it is considered too religious or political. Are you friggin' kidding me? By the 5th grade I could tell you who the founding fathers were and what they did. I could recite parts of the Constitution. Now it doesn't matter enough to teach the facts of history?
Maybe someone else can explain this to me...Are we not robbing our kids of the knowledge of why the United States is a special nation, that we made the experiment of freedom work?
